Dr. Neil Dean is originally from Kansas City and is a BIG Chiefs and Royals fan! He has been a pediatric dentist since 2006. For him, nothing is more fulfilling than developing relationships with his young patients and watching them grow up with healthy, beautiful smiles. He wants to make taking your child to their Independence pediatric dentist as convenient and stress-free as possible, and he looks forward to meeting your family! But first, you can start getting to know Dr. Dean below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Pediatric Dentist?
Dr. Dean became a dentist because he liked the idea of helping people, and he also wanted to have a life outside of work (which can be tricky for people in other healthcare fields)! He became interested in pediatrics after he worked as a summer camp counselor at the Boggy Creek Gang Camp in Orlando, FL for two years while in college. He got to help children with special needs have the time of their lives. Dr. Dean really enjoyed being with the campers, and this motivated him to focus on pediatric dentistry.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Dean earned his dental degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and he went on to obtain his specialty certificate in pediatric dentistry at the Texas A&M College of Dentistry. Since graduating, he has been a practicing pediatric dentist for 15 years, and he is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (Diplomate status).
Outside of the Pediatric Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When not at work, the majority of Dr. Dean’s free time is dedicated to his girls, including his beautiful wife Melissa (who is also a dentist), their two daughters, Brooklyn and Catherine, and their dog , Evie. When he isn’t chauffeuring his children between their activities, he likes to play tennis, golf, and guitar (he likes to ROCK out!)
